Atticus
This last weekend my husband and I forfeited our “empty nest” status, embarking on a journey I have been longing for a very long time.
It all started the summer of 2019, when our neighbors adopted a Golden Retriever named Sonja.
She is beautiful, with a true “golden” personality of obedience, playfulness and intelligence. Thus making her the PERFECT family dog.
I contacted the breeder in October of that year and was told the next liter was expected Christmas 2020. This was great and I requested being put on the waiting list for a male puppy.
Fast forwarded to October 2020, mama Snowy and daddy Riggs have a successful meeting, with the puppies due on December 28, 2020.

Daddy, Riggs
I anxiously awaited as any expectant parent would and could barely contain my excitement when they were born.
THIRTEEN total. Six boys and seven girls.
Here is a picture of mama with a few of her babies!
I cannot even begin to imagine taking care of 13 puppies.
On this past Sunday, my long awaited-for adoption day had arrived!
Here is our last picture of “just the two of us” on our way to pick out our puppy.
It was virtually impossible to choose a favorite out of the six adorable male puppies I had to pick from.
So I let Atticus choose me!
Jodie had set me up comfortably in her vehicle.
The puppies were very interested in me to start with. Each of them licking my face and wagging their tails, all competing my attention.
Jodie had left me to my own devices in making my decision but low and behold, returned with yet another puppy. Apparently he had been napping and missed the first “gathering”.
I eventually lost my initial intrique and the puppies all migrated to the back with the exception of two, one of which was the last one to join the party.
Jodie returned to check my progress and one of the two I was holding eagerly found its way to her.
That left the one little guy, who never left my side from the moment he saw me. He made my decision for me.
Meet Atticus!
My little people were as excited as I had been and were eagerly awaiting upon our return home.
