Door County

My husband and I traveled to Door County this year for our second annual “road trip”! We had an amazingly perfect long weekend!

Door County is aptly named “The Cape Cod of the Midwest”! I couldn”t agree more. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking.

Our adventure started on Washington Island. We took the ferry crossing Devils Door passage and rented motor bikes to tour the Island.

Our first stop was Schoolhouse Beach. This is one of only five sandless beaches worldwide made entirely of small rocks and named for a one room school house which existed long ago.

Next we traveled to a Lavendar Farm.

Our last stop was Washington Island Stavkirke. This church was built in recent times to replicate a traditional Scandinavian Stavkirke church and is beautiful.

Our second day consisted of two “trolley tours”. Lighthouses in the morning and a ghost tour in the evening!

The Alexander Noble House was on of our stops on the ghost tour.

Day three we hiked Peninsula State Park in the morning and meandered the streets of Fish Creek in the afternoon.

Saturday evening we enjoyed a traditional “fish boil”! It was delicious!

Dining al fresco!
This was the view from our table! So pretty!
After dinner we wandered the streets of Ephraim and came upon this piece of history.
On our way home, we stopped at “every” farm market along the way to sample cherry pie! My husband ate his weight in the Door County staple, as it is his favorite!
