Syttende Mai

What is Syttende Mai you may ask? Syttende Mai is to Norway, what the Fourth of July is to America!

The little town which I live in was settled by Norwegians and that is why we celebrate Syttende Mai.

My little people love a good craft and what better than an edible one. We decided to decorate sugar cookies with the Norwegian flag and started with a roll of slice and bake cookie dough. Super easy and very yummy.

I purchased red, white and blue frosting in a tube which was fun and perfect for little hands to maneuver.

The finished cookies were adorable and the craft was a hit, as they all totally enjoyed their creativity.

They love to dress up in the traditional Norwegian bunad!
